YOUR CASHIER WAS: SELF
driving home tonite thru my Quiet Suburban Neighborhood to the house where I Live With My Parents, I saw some young kids (9 years old? 12? WHO KNOWS ANYMORE) playing basketball in the driveway, one of whom, after I guess making a nice basket/maybe for no reason at all, just to show off, performs the ‘making it rain’ gesture, with a great deal of gusto and prolonged eye contact
and so there I am in my car thinking, rap music what have you done to the youth?!?, when I realize that there was something strangely familiar about the way in which young dude made it rain. subsequently, I remember that last night, in one of the last exciting moments of a nationally televised playoff game, a New England Patriots player performed the aforementioned gesture in celebration after catching Tom Brady’s gazillionth touchdown pass of the first half. so the world is safe after all—this kid doesn’t know the first thing about strip clubs—he may not even know that the thing he’s doing has a name or a meaning—he probably just thought it looked cool on TV. at most, he might understand the implied ‘I have lots of money to blow’, and think that that sounds cool too; but he almost certainly does not see his imaginary money falling onto the glistening bodies of naked dancers
